Project Management - Qala Apartment

As mentioned in my first post I want to show you a couple of properties we recently project managed. The most recent property we finished is an apartment in Qala facing open valley and sea views.

I sold this apartment to an English couple. As it was sold in shell state the couple needed assistance in organising the fit-out. A project like this, although not big, can be a daunting experience for locals let alone someone who lives overseas and is not familiar with local tradesmen, shops etc.

As you can see from the photos we started working on th
e apartment in shell state. The clients highlighted their requirements and together we visited shops and spoke to tradesmen such as tilers, plasterers and carpenters and decided on each aspect of finishing. After some discussions on site, a detailed electrical and plumbing plan was drawn up. Once these services where installed, work started on the ceiling (plastering) and walls (pointing and sanding). Bathroom and floor tiles (chosen by the client) were installed, matching skirting was applied giving a really nice finishing touch to the apartment.

Aluminium windows with double glazed panes were fitted throughout. Dark stained pine doors ordered through a local carpenter. These contrasted really well with the light coloured limestone walls, stainless steel handles gave a modern touch to the whole unit.

Wall hung air-conditioning units were installed throughout the apartment. With the highlight of the apartment being the terrace special attention was given to this area. Rather than having a low wall at the edge, custom made, wrought iron railings were installed thus maximizing the view enjoyed from both the terrace and sitting area.

Many of our conversions used to be completed in a more traditional, conservative, rustic finish however clients’ tastes are changing. With the limestone walls still keeping a traditional element, most of the furniture installed is modern and the whole project came together quite nicely.
